Overview

Product details.

Epithalon 10mg — Synthetic Tetrapeptide
Four amino acids. Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly. That is the entire sequence of Epithalon — one of the shortest bioactive peptides in the research catalog. Developed by Professor Vladimir Khavinson at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology, this tetrapeptide has attracted research interest primarily around two targets: telomerase activity and pineal gland function.

Telomerase research

Preclinical studies have examined Epithalon for its effects on hTERT (telomerase reverse transcriptase) gene expression in cell culture models. The research centers on telomere length maintenance and regulation of telomerase’s catalytic subunit — the enzyme that rebuilds the protective caps on chromosome ends during cell division.

Pineal gland research

A separate line of investigation has examined Epithalon in the context of melatonin production pathways and circadian rhythm gene expression in pineal tissue models. The connection between a four-residue peptide and neuroendocrine regulation of the pineal-hypothalamic axis is an active area of study.

Research applications

  • Telomerase activity and hTERT gene expression
  • Telomere length maintenance studies
  • Pineal gland function and melatonin pathways
  • Circadian rhythm gene expression
  • Short peptide bioactivity and structure-function relationships
